Jim grew up living in five different states along with four years in Tokyo, spending the majority of his high school and adult years in Chicago. To kickstart his own journey with recovery, Jim went through a life-changing experience as a client in wilderness therapy and aftercare programs. Along with the therapeutic work he put in during his time in treatment, the comfort he gained in his childhood with picking up and moving influenced Jim to listen to his heart in 2018. He decided to leave his life in Chicago and move to Bend to pursue a career path in mental health. Jim worked as a Senior Field Instructor at Evoke Therapy Programs – Cascades for a year and a half, coaching clients in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, creative interventions, primitive outdoor skills, and therapeutic groups. Jim brings this knowledge to CCT’s focus on the power of motivational interviewing and building rapport with students through the teaching of life skills. Jim’s approach is relational and values driven with an emphasis on confidence building.
When Jim isn’t at work, you can find him on the hiking or biking trail, playing basketball at a park, practicing his barista skills, or trying to keep up with all of the Bend locals in the numerous outdoor activities the area has to offer.
