MA, Wellness Coordinator
Roxy graduated from California State University, Chico with a MA in Kinesiology emphasizing in Exercise and Sport Psychology. During her college career she has held a variety of health and fitness jobs that have included instructing college-level kinesiology courses, nutrition and exercise adherence peer counseling, as well as health promotion program management. While managing a physical activity program for college students with depression at Chico State, Roxy dedicated her time to training 12 other universities who wanted to create a holistic adjunct treatment for students in need of mental health resources. Along with trainings, she has created a step-by-step instructional manual for universities, A Physical Activity Program Manual for College Students with Depression, which she has carried over in her teachings at CCT.
Although Roxy may be known as a gym guru, she has experience in a myriad of athletics such as competitive gymnastics, cross-country running, track and field, Junior Olympic diving, volleyball, skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. She understands that not every student enjoys the gym and uses this as a start to find motivation for other physical activity passions. In addition to helping our students become physically active, Roxy assists with other wellness topics including nutrition education and behaviors, meal planning, hydration, sleep, smoking cessation, and the ordering of medications.
