KRISTEN ALES

MA, Ascent Phase Case Manager

Kristen holds a Master’s degree from Naropa University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy. She joins Cascade Crest with enthusiasm for connecting students to the outdoors. Over the last 10 years, Kristen has worked as a guide in wilderness therapy and outdoor adventure programs. She has found her own healing through time in the outdoors, and is passionate about offering wilderness experiences to support therapeutic growth in others.

At Cascade Crest, Kristen plans and facilitates Wilderness Therapy and Rites of Passage experiences.  Her education at Naropa has set a clinical foundation for her work with students one-on-one, and in groups. Kristen incorporates body-mind connection, the natural world, expressive arts and contemplative awareness into her work with others. As a Wellness Coordinator, Kristen emphasizes that mental and physical health are not separate, and works towards inspiring students to find peace and balance within themselves. Along with her outdoor work, Kristen also manages medication and medical appointments and strives to create a trusting and compassionate relationship with students and their medical needs.

When Kristen isn’t working at CCT, you will find her facilitating adventure retreats for women who have been impacted by eating disorders or negative body image, through her company Wild and Weightless. She also loves skiing, hiking, camping out of the back of her truck, farmers markets and well-executed dinner parties.
